Rob I. Miller – “The One”

2023 is shaping up in fine for for Rob I. Miller, with a brand new Blues Lawyer album already out and packed full of pop pleasantries and now a solo album on the way, aptly titled Companion Piece. His new single “The One” is a jangly, slightly hazy slice of power pop rooted in the ‘90s variety. With a touch of BMX Bandits and quite a lot of Teenage Fanclub in the bones of the track, Miller skews even further towards the softness of pop than this year’s outing with Blues Lawyer. The new album took shape over a number of weeks in which Miller challenged himself to write a new song every week, without the aid of other musicians, and it’s formed into one of his most personal albums yet. The new record is out May 12th from Vacant Stare.
