Oneida – “Here It Comes”
Oneida are back and ready to rumble through the Summer, including a stop at the Deep In the Valley weekend opener on August 9th. The band has long been a favorite around here, straddling the line between dented rock ruffians and experimental academics. They’ve been bolting down the Brooklyn bluster since before I can remember and if one band had to stand victorious on the rubble of the Aughts, I’m glad its them. “Here It Comes” is the fist huff of Expensive Air, the band’s new album for Joyful Noise. Feeling like an extension of the grit and growl of Success, the new cut careens through the speakers on loose bolts and adrenaline. The song ropes in friend and collaborator Thalia Zedek for some vocal help, kicking off their 17th album with a blast of garage pop that proves the band never hits a slump. The new album is out July 19th from Joyful Noise and you can see ‘em in Kingston to open up the Deep festivities.
