Mong Tong – “Forest Show”

More goodness out of Guruguru Brain this morning comes via an announcement of a new Mong Tong album. The Taiwanese duo expands their palette, blending psychedelics with field recordings. The new album Tao Fire 道火 incorporates gamelan music, phin guitar, tabla, and Taiwan sisomi into the works, woven between ambience culled from weddings, funerals, and traditional celebrations. The first track from the album, “Forest Show” implements a shuffling beat and funk scratched guitar alongside the more traditional elements, expanding into a work of rhythm and light. The new album is out June 30th from Guruguru Brain.
