Maya Ongaku has released one of the year’s best albums, a low-key record full of soft winds and quiet contemplation. In my review a while back I noted, “The album warms, like tea trickling down the esophagus or the rose bloom of whiskey in winter. It radiates through the body in slow waves, a resplendent record that lets the listener slip between sides of the veil.” Those feelings are present in the light ramble of “Melting,” which the band has just graced with a video. If you’ve missed out up to now, let this be a nice window into Maya Ongaku’s world. The new album, Approach To Anima, is out now on Guruguru Brain.
