Kyle Hamlett Duo – “I Am Asking”

Another excellent single rises off the new album from Kyle Hamlett Duo (Kyle Hamlett + Luke Schneider). “I Am Asking” is a more sauntered song than I’ve heard out of the band previously. Over plucked strings — banjo and guitar — Kyle lets his patient drawl creep through the shadows of the afternoon. The song dangles in the breeze, a sweet entreaty that washes over the listener with quiet comfort. The new album, Tape Diamonds, is out today. It’s a subtle gem of a record that further cements a new Nashville carving out a burrow in folk and country away from the trad norms of the town. Highly recommend digging into this one.
