Kate Bollinger – “What’s This About (La La La La)”

Another delightful ray of sunshine slips out from the upcoming Kate Bollinger LP. Album opener “What’s This About (La La La La)” wafts out of the speakers on strums and swooned vocals. With a nod to ‘60s psych pop, the song feels as fresh and unfussed as anything in the Elephant 6 prime. Bollinger cites Of Montreal and Apples In Stereo as her key influences for the cut, and it’s easy to hear a kinship, especially with the latter. The song sways in the breeze, a sunshine-pop gem to pack in your picnic basket. The accompanying video captures the hazy afternoon feeling as well — a simple, sun-drenched clip full of Bollinger’s now-trademark pastels and with a touch of grain across the lens. The new album, Songs From A Thousand Frames Of Mind, is out September 27th from Ghostly International.
