Kassi Valazza – “Weight of the Wheel”

Kassi’s last album was a mainstay around here for 2023. Included as one of my favorites of the year, the songwriter has a way of melding Canyon Country with touches of English folk and plaintive modern pop. The first dip into a new album for 2025 is “Weight Of The Wheel,” an evening comedown that’s full of lamplight, swirls of steel, and smoke curls of organ. Valazza retains a masterful hand skirting the line between sorrow and solace. “Weight of the Wheel” draws blood and helps heal at the same time. The single slips into place on the upcoming From Newman Street, out May 2nd from Loose Music.
