Joseph Allred – “Sweetcorn Ramble”

After delivering one of my absolute favorites of 2021, Joseph Allred is already back with the promise of a new record. The first taste skews away from some of the soaring, beautiful vocals that were integral to Branches and Leaves, opting instead to show off Allred’s prowess in the realm of fingerpicked folk. With a title like The Rambles and Rags of Shiloh, its a good bet that more of the album will follow suit, dipping into the deep wells of instrumental bliss and sorrow that follow Allred’s catalog around. Allred notes, “The instrumental pieces for guitars and banjo on the album at hand mostly depict images and events, both real and imagined, that take place in Shiloh and the broader river valley it’s situated in.” The new album is out August 5th from Worried Songs and you can check out a live video of the track above.
