The jams just keep coming from The Heavy Lidders this year and in the wake of their excellent and essential album for Arrowhawk, the band serves up a very limited tape for the Dire Wolves / Alexander subscription series on Bandcamp. Limited to 50 copies, the tape is a split with Brooklyn heavies Rhyton. The Lidders side is two tracks improvised live in the studio (which you can see video of over at Aquarium Drunkard), pushing the band back into the viscous blues-psych ether they’d been exploring before the eponymous album. “Bernal Afterburn” crawls through the dawn ooze to serve up just the kind of thickly settled grooves we need on an October Wednesday. The flip side serves up Rhyton in the raw, live from their final show before pandemic shutdowns. The tape is available now.
