Jeff Parker, ETA IVtet – “Late Autumn”

Very excited to see new music from Jeff Parker’s ETA IVtet this week. Following the near-universal acclaim of the group’s Mondays at Enfield Tennis Academy, the new record comes with quite a bit of anticipation and the group doesn’t disappoint with the first peek into a new collection of compositions, starting with the 17+ minute “Late Autumn.” With an accompanying video by Mikel Patrik Avery (Natural Information Society, BASIC), the piece showcases the cumulative talents of the assembled musicians in the IVtet — Anna Butterss, Josh Johnson, and Jay Bellerose — alongside, of course, Parker’s distinctive leads. “Late Autumn” is a slow saunter through the tall grass, soaking in the perfumed breezes flecked with fall musk and light rain. The new album, The Way Out of Easy, is out November 22nd from International Anthem/Nonesuch.
