Golomb – “Real Power”

Columbus trio Golomb made some noise with their EP, LOVE, last year and they follow it with a debut for No Quarter. Falling outside of the label’s usual fare of folk, psych, and Cosmic Americana, the band is dipped and dyed in the waters of ‘90s indie. First single “Real Power” comes crackling out of the airwaves with a steady build. In another life this one would have been climbing the CMJ charts right alongside Guided By Voices or Imperial Teen. The band can get spacey at time, but on the first single out of the gate they keep things tight and turbulent, bubbling over with a crescendo that explodes through the speakers with a cathartic crash. The band’s new album, The Beat Goes On, is out July 25th from No Quarter.
