Freckle – “Taraval”

Nice to see some West Coast heads finding each other this week with RSTB faves Ty Segall and Color Green’s Cory Madden announcing a collaborative record for Ty’s God? imprint. Dubbed Freckle, the new outfit releases a first taste of their upcoming eponymous debut. With a flourish of acoustic guitar and a melancholy air that unfolds as the track works towards a latter half cloud shift, it hews more towards classic works from Segall. Yet, there’s a touch of the progressive Americana that’s found Color Green expanding their sound over the past few years as well, with some sweetened harmonies, piano pound and guitar gloss finding their way into the works too. The new record is out from God? / Drag City January 31st.
