Corey Madden – “Free Again”

It’s been no secret around here that Color Green have been favorites. The Cali crooners have locked up a hazy brand of Cosmic Americana that hits just right. Now, the band’s Corey Madden strikes out solo for a new tape on Worried Songs, and with a bit of distance from the band, he explores other corners of the pop spectrum. The upcoming Taste The Hour has a penchant for loner ‘60s psych — tripping through the tumult of Kevin Ayers, John Cale, and John Wonderling. “Free Again” adds at bit of propulsion to the formula as well, giving Madden’s psych-pop a modern polish that keeps it out of the pastiche pile. The new tape is out March 22nd from Worried Songs.
