Bananagun – “With The Night”

A third single from Aussies Bananagun finds the band emerging from the psych-funk clouds for a downtempo ballad that’s reaching for some of the same AOR touchstones as recent works by Sam Blasucci or Sylvie, but unlike those, the band chooses not to play it straight. Through the first half, the band conjures up soul stirrings, but as we ease into the second half discordance begins to erode the silk supports that built the song, giving way to clashes of strings and bleats of brass. The new album, Why is the Colour of the Sky? is out November 8th from Full Time Hobby/Anti-Fade.
