The Burkhearts – “Please Don’t Wake Me Up”

A little late to this one, but I’ve been deep into anyone shelling out those Beach Boys harmonies these days. There’s just something comforting about stacked harmonies and the bittersweet blush of sunshine pop and The Burkhearts hit the combination just perfectly on their new single “Please Don’t Wake Me Up.” It’s easy to get sucked into the vortex of the single, a melancholy swirl that’s as lush and comforting as deep orange shag. The band brings a video to match, sporting a Monkees-worthy wardrobe and coating the cut in a soft focus veneer. The band’s had a nice little run of singles, so here’s hoping they get an album to contain ‘em pretty soon. The single’s out now streaming and you can dip into the video above.
