Mystery Groop – “Nil-Nil”

Another one to make up for lost time. Mystery Groop brings together members of Groop and Mystery Egg. The latter is also better known as Nolan Potter’s Nightmare Band. The combined band played a one-off show in Austin in 2023 and it was lucky enough to get cut to tape. Potter’s been a consummate collaborator, releasing an indispensible record with Yoo Doo Right and Population II last year, and this should appeal to fans of that work. A deep grooved record that’s boiled in psych and prog, the band’s sole release pulses through visions of Can and Gong, a furrowed freakout that’s bolted down tight thanks to the skill of the players. The tape, Glorify The Bomb, cut in an edition of 100 was long thought out of print, but for the lucky few, it looks like some copies have surfaced at Greenway Records. Nab one before they disappear again.
