Tomo Katsurada & Misha Panfilov – “Mostra”

2026 continues to throw surprises my way. A collaboration between former Kikagaku Moyo guitarist Tomo Katsurada and critically beloved Estonian composer Misha Panfilov is on the way this Spring. Katsurada’s been no stranger to collaboration post dissolution of the band, having just released an EP with visual artist Shoko Otake in 2024 that took shape as a children’s book and accompanying music. With Panfilov, the vibe skews towards the psychedelic jazz and funk that the Estonian composer has been known for, with first single “Mostra” floating in on psych-funk breezes and a surreal sense of dream. The duo find fantasy in between the groove, a cut that’s scratched by the sensibilities of the ’70s, and bound in bright hues and a freewheeling flow. The pair are releasing the record through Tomo’s label Future Days Radio and his accompanying shop in the Netherlands. The new record, Eternal Almost, is out April 1st.
