I’ve alway had a soft spot for Philly’s 2nd Grade. Crafting home-grown power pop that’s soaked in jangle n’ strum, Peter Gill’s built up a formidable catalog of songs that swing through the heartstrings and tug at the nodes of nostalgia in all the right ways. The new album spins the dial through Nashville power-pop, GBV fuzz-caked nuggets, and Northwest ‘90s piners alike. Home-recorded again with friend and engineer Lucas Knapp, the new collection offers up another couple dozen pop gems that don’t break the 3 min mark.
