Zoh Amba – “Fruit Gathering”

A busy day around here, but there’s always time to get a new track from Zoh Amba into rotation. Fresh off dates with her Sun Ensemble, and an excellent cover of Suzanne Langille from Feeding Tube’s recent tribute, the saxophonist announces a new solo record today for Smalltown Supersound. Breaking like daylight through the speakers, album opener “Fruit Gathering” balances the line between folk and jazz, improv and field recording. The tracks on the upcoming Sun revel in the moment, capturing the process of recording and conception at the same time. The song clatters to life, opens in salutation to the sun and shakes off the weight of the day. It begins the journey on the new album, which finds its way out in full on June 27th.
