Wand – “Smile”

Wand returns, leaner, but no less lacerating on their new album Vertigo. The band pares down to a four-piece for the upcoming album, but there’s still plenty of the band’s heft on first single “Smile.” Knotted with guitar and drenched in a glorious blanket of fuzz and froth, the new single chews on the prog-pop that’s made their bed for the past few albums. The song seethes, dips back into the ‘90s well of guitar-forward radio. They pair the cut with an absolutely terrifying video that’s dipping into “Black Hole Sun” territory, from Connor Clarke and Slips Studios. The new album, Vertigo, is out July 26th from Drag City.
