Soaked in the classic class of power pop, L.A.’s Uni Boys may be studied, but they feel liken’ve been kept after class on their upcoming AA single. Shaking through the speakers with snotty, love-lorn anthems that have most certainly worn through copies of The Quick, Milk n’ Cookies, Advertising or The Wasps, the band only builds anticipation for what’s next with these cuts. “On Your Lovin’ Mind” is loose and limber, with a palpable guitar snap, handclap bounce, and a vocal pout that pleads down to its knees. There’s a bit less pelvic swagger to “Hypocrite,” but the soft-punk punch is still in gear here. The band nails the juiced jangle of Yellow Pills set, knocking through two instantly lovable cuts that feel ripped from time — lost gems that still have time to be found.
