Turner Williams Jr. – “Droplet”

Avatar

Happy to debut the first video from Turner Williams Jr. today. While Williams’ first studio LP under his own name, Briars On A Dewdrop, is on the way from Drowned Lands this summer, Williams is no stranger to the site. Turner has turned up under the Ramble Tamble name for quite some time and has played along with RSTB faves Elkhorn and Guardian Alien in the past. Following an entry into Trouble In Mind’s excellent Explorer Series last year, Briars On A Dewdrop refines Williams’ approach. Entering the revered Black Dirt Studios with Jason Meagher to record the transformative album, Williams alternates between two shahi baajas and effects pedals, in a sense using the pedals and instruments as one entity. The first taste of the album, “Droplet” is a beautifully meditative piece, rippling with life that is only enhanced by the video from Irish Intermedia artist Jane Cassidy. Turner notes, “She took the surf footage on the coast near her home there. To me, her film feels psychedelic in a chemical sense and totally visualizes everything that the tune makes me feel.” Keep an eye out for Turner’s new album this summer.
