The Toads – “Nationalsville”

Avatar

When Anti-Fade and Upset The Rhythm come together for a release, you know its going to be good. The Toads sprung from tragedy, when Billy Gardner (Smarts, The Living Eyes) found himself in need of a place to crash during some repairs to his home. The move found him in the company of friend Stella Rennex (Parsnip, Smarts) and the pair began to form the idea of a new group with frequent visitors Elsie Retter and Miles Jansen (The Shifters). The fist single, “Nationalsville,” brings together a post-punk propulsion via Rennex’ bass and Jansen’s deadpan delivery with a bit of classic garage production with subtle harmonies closing in right behind him, rising to the rafters of the rock n’ roll church. In The Wilderness is out June 9th through Anti Fade (AU) & Upset The Rhythm (UK).
