The Royal Arctic Institute – “Twigs of Cries, Feathers of Sobs ”

The good folks over at Centripetal Force have been busy already this year, and another good one rolls down the belt for 2025. Picking up East Coast ambient country outfit The Royal Arctic Institute, the label continues to foster the genre (see: the label’s work with Nashville Ambient Ensemble, Prairiewolf, Luke Schneider). The first taste of RAI’s new album is the languorous, slinking new single “Twigs of Cries, Feathers of Sobs.” The cut winds itself around bass throb and a steel sound that skews colder than many of their peers. Still, the track lulls the listener into a cocooned corner, buffeted against the winds by their patient curl. The band’s eponymous new album is out May 2nd.
