The Rishis – “Criminal Activities”

This one snuck out a few days ago and deceivers a proper spotlight in the run up to the excellent new album from The Rishis. If the group’s off the radar, you need to right that fast. The band boasts some E6 connections with members of Circulatory System, The Olivia Tremor Control, and Elf Power in the mix, and the collective’s penchant for pop is on full display on “Criminal Activities.” Buzzing with a power pop heart and a halo of harmonies, the new single fizzes to life. The band even pulls in Superchunk’s Mac McCaughan on guitar for the track, culminating in a searing solo that tumbles through the speakers with infectious energy. The band’s self-titled new record is out February 21st from Primordial Void.
