The Mellons – “Please Baby Please”

If you haven’t been siphoning the psych-pop along with Salt Lake City’s preeminent purveyors, The Mellons, then its about time to start. The band’s been creeping through the E6 back garden for a few years now, and following on their more baroque curio “Make Me Feel,” the band is back today with the pure pop bombast of “Please Baby Please.” A burst of drums heralds the single, feeling a bit less linked to the ‘60s than usual. The harmonies layer one on top of the other under an algae bloom of neon keys. The song’s packed with motion and soaked in some late summer sweat, just what you need to navigate another August Wednesday. The new single is out now, the flip to the yet to be revealed “Tell My Why.”
