The Mellons – “Black & White”

Just a little sunshine pop to capitalize on the false Spring that’s hitting (at least out East.) Here’s hoping it sticks, but no matter the way the winds tilt, the new single from SLC baroque merchants The Mellons will keep your spirits up. The band’s last album was wrapped in the wonders of Yellow Balloon, Beach Boys, and Curt Boetecher. On “Black & White,” the band’s still tied in the trappings of harmony, orchestral swells, and hooks brighter than a daycare mural. With just a touch of bittersweet magic, the band adds this to their sterling run of post-album singles. No news on whether this is the beginning a new album, but for now you’ll just have to keep this on repeat until the clouds come to call. The new single is out now from Earth Libraries.
