The Kitchenettes – “Sunday Best”

It’s shaping up to be another banner year over at Slumberland. After the announcement of a bounty of reissues from Rocketship, and Rachel Love, plus an expanded version of Love’s group Railcard’s debut EP, the label lets slip another excellent debut. This single comes from The Kitchenettes, a new trio featuring members of The Umbrellas, The Snugs, and Telephone Numbers. Fashioned with the simple pop strums of Marine Girls, Cat’s Miaow, and Tiger Trap, the band’s new single offers up a sweet, spare sensibility. “Sunday Best” reclines into soft strums and the warmth of Springtime. The song wraps around the listener like a hand-knitted scarf; offering cozy comforts that stay with you long after the last strains dissipate from the air. The new single is out on 7” from Slumberland, March 27th.
