SUSS – “Sunset II”
Another site favorite returns today, slipping smoothly into the morning on waves of ambient country. The new single from SUSS reverberates around the headspace, warm and woolen, but also soaked in a melancholy that tugs at the seams of the soul. The new album is a reflective cycle. On one hand the title Counting Sunsets feels hopeful, conjuring beaches and soft summer breezes. Yet, in the scope of later years, those sunsets seem to stack in worrying rows, wondering how many are left compared to how many have passed. The record is rooted in memory, time, and the erosion of what little we’re given. The first peek into the record feels dipped in the weight of this sentiment. The new record, Counting Sunsets, is out May 15th from Northern Spy.
