Sloome – “Raw Power”

Another gem out of the gazed and glazed enclave at Cherub Dream Records (Figure Eight, Welcome Straberry, Pocket Full of Crumbs). The label turns to Modesto, CA’s hazy Sloome for a new album and they waste no time hurtling out of the gate with a fizzing new single. The band, begun as a solo project for G Curtis Walls, expanded with the addition of members of Paper Space and Welcome Strawberry, resulting in a powerful sound that smears propulsive indie with a good dose of purple shadows from the shoegaze bin. The first single from the band’s new album, Blue Fire Doom, drops the band into a proper studio and the bump in sound splashes the speakers with foaming guitars that ride the band’s riotous grooves. The new album is out April 24th from Cherub Dream. For now, cue this one up with that new GUV and a cross-section of favorite Cherub labelmates and turn it loud.
