Sarah Coolidge – “Redwood Regional”

Rocks In Your Head always comes clean with the good stuff, and they have a new single from Oakland’s Sarah Coolidge today. Inspired by aughts indie, “Redwood Regional” finds a kinship with Allah-Las and Courtney Barnett, steering surf licks into country corners and winding through her lyrical labyrinths with shaggy charms. The song strums with a slight squeal, turning its hangdog delivery into cool breeze catharsis. The song’s a grower, digging under the skin and burrowing it’s slouched hooks into the bone. It’s an excellent introduction to Sarah’s sophomore album, Witch The Double EP, out on June 13th from those lovely folks at Rocks.
