Sam Blasucci – “Sha La La”

Mapache’s Sam Blasucci lets out another single from his upcoming solo record, Off My Stars. The album finds Sam fleshing out his sound, moving away from the double acoustic dip and country porch aura of Mapache, trading in the country air for a crushed velvet cool. Smooth as smoked glass, “Sha La La” finds Sam slipping into a ‘70s slinkiness. Rhodes and a ripple of bass push this one into an state of AOR bliss. Heavy fingerpicking in the midsection gives way to a nice Tequila sunrise of sax, letting the song bloom into the kind of AM radio comfort that keeps the road from getting too lonely at 5 AM. The accompanying video finds the band orbiting the roller rink, leaning into the aesthetics of the piece with an appropriately out of time vibe. The new record is out June 2nd from Innovative Leisure.
