Sam Blasucci – “Flower”
by Andy
A second single slips out from Mapache’s Sam Blasucci today. Teeing up his sophomore solo album, “Flower” finds Blasucci foraging further into the sun-faded ‘70s that permeated his last album. Reclined strums and hand drums ease the listener in before a massage of sax sends the single home. Sam’s solo work runs parallel to Mapache’s folk sound, feeling like the cognac comedown to days spent soaking in the West Coast sun. The prismic ripple of light that often laps at Sam’s songs is in full figure here, casting shadows of Motown’s melt through the speakers. The new record, Real Life Thing, is out November 1st from Calico Discos/Innovative Leisure.
