Primitive Ring – “Poisonous Gift”

It’s a big week around here for Bert Hoover. After a single yesterday from Hooveriii, the West Coast crusher lets loose the second single from Primitive Ring, his trio with Charles Moothart and Jon Modaff. This time tipping out on In The Red, the new cut keeps the formula familiar with their first single, plowing through the fuzz with a fondness for heady, smoke-soured riffs. The A-side chugs with a thousand pound pummel, echoing the power trio prowess of the ‘70s, practically making the speakers smoke with each riff. The band pairs it with a more limber B-side, though unlike their last it doesn’t attempt to lighten the atmosphere, acting as a double barrel bash to the senses. The new single is out now alongside some West Coast dates with Heavy Blanket and Monsterwatch.
