Nice to see this one surfacing digitally. For those that haven’t been keeping an eye on Feeding Tube’s excellent Quarantunes series of streamed performances, the label has had a nice cross-section of their talent record stripped down sets from home. The label then releases them in small lathe editions that almost instantly sell out. A few have found their way to Bandcamp, though, and this one is among the best of the bunch. The Australian songwriter has found his way onto RSTB quite a few times, most notably with his affecting Old Chestnut LP from a few years back (his FT debut). In this set Ned runs down tunes from that record along with its predecessor, Networking in Purgatory. There’s also a new tune that starts off the set. Stripped of their production from the LPs, but still steeped in Collette’s inherent darkness, the set only proves to highlight the power in his songwriting. Notes of Wooden Want, Leonard Cohen, and Nick Barrie still come wafting through the speakers. Don’t miss out on this one.
