Model Shop – “Compilation Tape”

Often lacquered with jangles, the roster of Spain’s Meritorio Records has become a haven for indie pop, but with Model Shop they offer up a thicker crop of indie charms. The band, culled from members of fan-favorite pop-shoppers Math and Physics Club, soften the landing on the jangle contingent with a good dose of pop padding that’s full of synth sparkle, yearning guitars, stacked vocals, and pining lyrics. Like the triple-stacked swoons of the band’s first single, “Compilation Tape” feels like the kind of song you’ve known for years, just trying to dig the pieces out of memory and bring them back to life. The band’s debut, Love Interest, is out November 25th on Meritorio.
