Lightheaded – “The View From Your Room”

Last week was packed with releases and something had to give, but there’s still time to catch up on this excellent new single from RSTB faves Lightheaded. The New Jersey band effortlessly weave between the soft strains of ‘60s folk-pop, ‘90s jangle-pop, and the kind of perennial indie stalwarts that make use of harmony and heart. On a new EP, the band can be found collaborating with some heroes, recording with Gary Olson (The Ladybug Transistor) and Alicia Vanden Heuvel (The Aislers Set, Poundsign), with contributions from Fred Thomas (Saturday Looks Good to Me). The latest single finds the band searching wistful skies, paring pillow-soft harmonies with their strums, underpinned by the soft hiss of tape in the background. The whole thing feels like a dream that might dissipate the minute reality tries to break the spell. The band pairs their new material with their excellent Good, Good Great! EP from 2023, marking the first time that release makes it off of cassette. The new collection Thinking, Dreaming Scheming! Is out June 27th from Slumberland.
