Lame Drivers – “Spring”
by Andy
A familiar but long lingering name pops back up this week as Lame Drivers return with a new album. The NYC band still chews on the strands of power pop, synth pop, and punk that have been the fuel for their past sounds, sounding fresh and formidable on the upcoming Become an Island. The second single “Spring” is an apt one as we crest into May. The song’s more about emerging from bleak times, burnout, and emotional weight, but the slow step into the sun parallels nicely with the season just the same. Driven by an insistent rhythm and neon-slashed synths, the song fizzes through the speakers. The new record slips onto shelves June 28th from Bleeding Gold Records.
