Jeffrey Silverstein – “Gassed Up”

Site favorite Jeffrey Silverstein returns with a new EP, following on last year’s beloved Western Sky Music. The new EP shares WSM’s balance between satin n’ sand grooves and a three-day stubble delivery that gives his songs just the right touch of grit. Like the album, the new EP is a mix of instrumentals and lyrical luggers, and the first single captures his tempered twang to perfection. With a slight country funk crimp on the bass (provided by Alex Chapman) and a quicksilver buttering of steel from Connor Gallaher, the song slides through the half-lit bars to the back patio. It hits like a JJ favorite, clinging to the jukebox, reclining in the afternoon ease. The new EP, Roseway, is out June 14th from Arrowhawk. The vinyl version also brings his Torii Gates EP to vinyl for the first time, serving as the flip to the LP pressing.
