Jeff Parker IVtet – “Like Swimwear (part two)”

Very excited to see new work on the way from site favorite Jeff Parker. I was out when the announcement for the record hit a few weeks back, but today brings another taste of the upcoming album in the form of a live video of the ETA IVtet performing part of “Like Swimwear.” A captivating six minutes here only captures a fraction of the magic of the full cut, but every moment that the IVtet is on the speakers proves endlessly entrancing. The video also gives insight into the accompanying film that’s coming alongside the album. Directed, filmed and edited by Charlie Weinmann, the film brings listeners who haven’t been lucky enough to see the band in their L.A. residencies into the fold. It was filmed at the Lodge Room performance that became Happy Today. Seated in the round, the band draws the listener into their embrace, an organic engine of improv, churning rhythm into gold with ever minute. The new album, Happy Today, is out May 15th from International Anthem and Nonesuch.
