Horse Lords – “First Galactic Utopia”
by Andy
Another searing single clears the way for the excellent new album from Horse Lords. “First Galactic Utopia” slinks onto the speakers with a disjointed funk; rubberized, simonized, looped and scooped for listeners looking for the seams in the sequences. Pinned, as always, to a lock n’ clock rhythm, the new single slips burbles among the bass and ties ‘em both into angled guitar knots. The band pairs the single with a throwback graffiix video courtesy of Alexander Stewart that captures the song’s swing between modern mechanics and an off-balance scent of the past that feels like a break in the simulation. The band’s new album, Demand to Be Taken to Heaven Alive!, is out June 12th from RVNG Intl.
