Gong Gong Gong 工工工 & Mong Tong – ” Escaping Encirclements 出重圍 ”

Some good news over the weekend, RSTB faves Gong Gong Gong 工工工 and Mong Tong issued a collaborative release last year that was a bit hard to come by in the States. A new repress makes the album available to a larger base, letting loose their hypnotic grooves on a new audience. The band’s posted it up to Bandcamp along with a taste and a trip into the studio for “Escaping Encirclements 出重圍.” The cut is pinned to GGGIII’s insistent pulse, rattled with with fuzz bass, muscular guitar, and Mong Tong’s slinking rhythms.

“Written and recorded live at the legendary President Piano Co. rehearsal rooms in Mongkok, Hong Kong, the bands played the studios’ own instruments and amplifiers, which date back to President Piano Co.’s foundation in 1978. The studio’s recording setup is a unique system designed and set up by owner Mr. Lee King Yat, giving the album its distinct vintage sound while maintaining impressive clarity.” The new edition of Mongkok Duel 旺角龍虎鬥 is out September 27th.
