Galore – “Field Trip”

It’s been about five years since I’ve heard from San Francisco outfit Galore, but it’s great to have ‘em back this morning with a bright and breezy new tune. Leaning into the indie pop rudder, the band’s last record mixed moments of post-punk n’ grit with wide open jangles and layered harmonies. There’s no trace of the rock tumbler toughness that occasionally reared its head, though, on “Field Trip.” The new single is sunny and sweetly stung by the band’s overlapping voices and a hammock swing of strums. As the song comes tumbling to a close a field recording of pond life adds to the summer vacation vibes that the band had been building all along. It’s a lovely start to their new record, Dirt, Out July 25th from Speakeasy Studios SF.
