Exploding Flowers – “Across The Sea”
This one slipped out last week, but it remains a necessary listen after a few days to marinate. Exploding Flowers have had a sterling run of singles leading up to the release of their new album Watermelon / Peacock, and “Across The Sea” fits right in with the indie pop pleasures that the band has already wrought. The new single gives the band a lighter touch, turning down some of the fuzz of their first two singles and offering a nice counterpoint to their pop with the patter of vibraphone. The record features more than a few indie legends, including songwriter Sharif Dumani (Alice Bag, Nikki Sudden), Rachel Love (Dolly Mixture) and Jowe Head (Swell Maps). The new LP is out March 21st from Meritorio Records.
