Eddy Current Suppression Ring – “Swimming Hole”

This one came out as an excellent surprise over the weekend. RSTB favorites Eddy Current Suppression Ring have kept their place atop the Aussie indie pantheon for years, but the band is patient with their release schedule, not employing the breakneck pace of some of their peers. That just makes each new entry one to savor and they follow up on the excellent album, All In Good Time, from 2019 with a new single this week. Though “Swimming Hole’s” title might conjure up images of vacation and relaxation, the song sets its controls to sear, taking on environmental collapse and suburban rot. The band’s always handy with a sneer and a hook, and “Swimming Hole” is already climbing in to take its place among their best singles. The new cut is out now. No word on a new album yet, but with reports of an Aussie secret show that featured all new material, here’s hoping its on the way soon.
