Danny Paul Grody Duo – “Last Light”

Three Lobed queue up the next release in a long run of greats, a new outing from Danny Paul Grody. Billed as a sort-of sister album to his 2023 record, Arc of Day, the upcoming Arc of Night refashions itself under the Danny Paul Grody Duo, a close collaboration with percussionist/drummer Rich Douthit. That’s not to count out some of the other heads who brought Day to life, and Chuck Johnson returns on pedal steel with Trevor Montgomery resuming duties on bass on a few tracks. The first cut from the record is the album opener, “Last Light,” a meditative outing that finds Grody and Douth circling one another in slow arcs, adding to the albums’ orbital themes. The new record finds its way out June 28th from Three Lobed.
