Dancer – “Didn’t Mean To”

A double dose of good news today as Happy Happy Birthday To Me Records announces a split 12” between Glasgow’s Dancer and Portland’s Whisper Hiss. Both bands offer up excellent singles today and I’m leading in with the rhythmic punch of Dancer’s “Didn’t Mean To.” Ropey bass and post-punk tangles of guitar wind around drums that refuse to sit still. Though, the driving force remains the emphatic vocals from singer Gemma Fleet, who turns the turbulence into barbed pop hits that hang on for days. The flip finds Whisper Hiss turning in an excellent batch of smeared indie pop with a punk heart. The new split is out October 4th from HHBTM with plans for US and UK tours on the way.
