A new bout of indie pop bliss swoons out of the stables at Bobo Integral today. Canadian collective Crystal Eyes smudge their jangles with a hazy nod to seminal sounds — finding themselves pulsing with a New Order heartbeat on “Wishes,” smearing their guitars with an Ecstasy-era MBV glow. The Montreal band imbues the song with a heart-heavy ennui, capturing the knife edge of longing and letting go that was baked into so many ‘80s new wave wonders. The tumble of drums and synths here hurtle the track towards the speakers, bursting out into the open in narcotic glee. The new album, The Sweetness Restored, is out April 22nd.
