Cole Pulice & Nat Harvie – “Parish Blue”

There’s a reverberating solace in the works of Col Police & Nat Harvie and no matter where you land in their new album Strawberry Roan, the dawn light seems to wrap around as you listen. “Parish Blue” might be one of the best entries, though, with Pulice’s sax wavering on the speakers like wind through the trees. Harvie lays a base of tones that open like orchids to the sun. The pair finds some help from pedal steel player Zack Warpinski, who doesn’t overshadow either’s offering, but instead fills in the cracks with a kind of auburn glow. The new record is out now, a few days early for the end of the week and its well worth diving into headlong and heart open. It’s out now on Aural Canyon.
