Cactus Lee – “By Sunday”

Another favorite returns for a well-needed run in 2026. Kevin Dehan’s Cactus Lee has traversed the indie country landscape, from raucous bar-burndown sets on the stage to homespun albums that wrap their fingers around the frayed edges of Cosmic Americana. The latest finds Dehan with a tender tone, turning down the twang for something heartfelt and humble. First single, “By Sunday” is a pensive rumination on relationships. It’s a rumpled, bittersweet mediation on the small moments and little things that are worth holding onto.

Dehan himself breaks down the background on the cut, “‘By Sunday’ is a love story set against the dysfunction of the adult world,” he notes. “It focuses on the small but beautiful moments which sometimes could be seen as mundane. The ending suggests a lingering, melancholic feeling that reminds us of the beautiful escape of youth before the weight of life settles in.” The song sits easy between the folds of his latest, Lee’s Dream, out April 10th from Western Vinyl.
